We have an opportunity in Boca Raton, Florida, for a terrific 13-week traveling assignment for a PICU Registered Nurse!
You’ll need at least one year of experience as a PICU nurse (two years is better) as well as a willingness to experience a bit of being “unsettled,” since you’ll be in Boca Raton for just 13 weeks.
What’s to like about Boca Raton? A better question should be what isn’t to like about this city just south of Palm Beach?
The city’s website touts Boca Raton as “The City for All Seasons.” It’s easy to see why: the sun shines there about 300 days a year.
The town of Boca Raton was incorporated in 1925 at the height of the Florida land boom. During this era, the town council commissioned Palm Beach architect Addison Mizner to plan a world-class resort community. Mizner’s architectural influence survives today in some of the city’s famed landmarks, including the Boca Raton Resort & Club, Mizner Park shopping complex and city hall. These buildings are great examples of the graceful and inviting Mediterranean Revival and Spanish Colonial Revival style buildings for which Mizner was renowned.
Mizner Park, for example, is a beautiful example of a pedestrian-friendly shopping experience, as the Park’s decorative fountains and walkways were designed to entice visitors to walk to the restaurants, cinemas and other entertainment venues found there – all in a relaxing tropical atmosphere.
Take on a nursing travel assignment in Boca Raton and your days off will be filled with visits to such great cultural hotspots as the Boca Raton Museum of Art, the Loxahatchee Everglades Tours, the Coconut Cove Waterpark and Recreation Center, Gumbo Limbo Environmental Complex, and the Center for the Arts at Mizner Park.
Depending on the time of year, you can enjoy the city’s festivals and fairs such as the Meet Me On The Promenade, Wine & All That Jazz, the Holiday Street Parade and the Annual Boat Parade, the Boca Festival of the Arts, and the Fabulous 4th at the Florida Atlantic University.
Oh, and did we mention the beach? Boca Raton is just 40 miles north of Miami on the Atlantic Ocean, but unlike many other Florida resorts, the beach itself isn’t as built up. Or as the Sun-Sentinel newspaper said in a recent article, “[n]o condos. No commercial buildings. Just dunes dotted with sea oats and sea grape.”
